Why choose an alarm responder?
In some areas, law enforcement will
no longer respond to alarm activations unless someone on the
site has determined that a crime has, or is taking place.
In such a case, a security officer trained in alarm response
is the best and safest option for a business or homeowner.
In areas where law enforcement still
provides alarm response, there may be significant fees that
result from alarm activations. More importantly, alarm responses
are typically placed low on the call priority list for law
enforcement officers to handle, resulting in extended response
times.
Alarm response is a function of
our Patrol Supervisor’s duties. These officers are responsible
for a geographic “district”. This means that alarm
responses are handled by the closest officer, resulting in
rapid response to your alarm activation.
Upon arrival, the Patrol Supervisor
will check the entire site for signs of criminal activity.
If it is apparent that a crime has occurred, law enforcement
will be notified and the findings reported to the alarm-monitoring
center. If no crime has occurred, the officer will attempt
to determine the cause of the activation and will insure that
the property is secure. If “key holding” services
are requested, the Patrol Supervisor can enter an alarmed
building, disarm the alarm and attempt to determine the cause
of the activation. The alarm system would then be re-armed
and the findings reported to the monitoring center. This service
almost always eliminates the need for a business owner to
respond during the middle of the night or on weekends. Written
reports are completed on all alarm responses.
